ONE OF THE THINGS WE LOVE ABOUT JESUS IS HIS COMPASSION FOR THOSE IN NEED AND THE MARGINALISED
|
This is why we are passionate about helping people in need in the city of Derby and beyond.
What we've been involved with in the past: Talk English - a project run by Derby City Council to trains and equip volunteers to run English courses and conversation classes for asylum seekers and those with limited English language skills. International meals - free hot meals, community and games for asylum seekers from many nations. Afghan Meals - for refugees from Afghanistan to come and cook their own delicious food in our kitchen and meet members of the local community. Afghan Therapy - in our building for children and men from Afghanistan who have experienced trauma - in partnership with the charity 'For the Love of a Child.'. Care4Calais - use our building to offer support and free tea and coffee to refugees on a Saturday afternoon. We have exciting plans at the moment for starting a project to help anyone affected by the escalating cost of living crisis. Watch this space! INTERNTIONAL LINKS We have also supported several projects internationally: LOVE THE ONE a charity working with some of the poorest children in India; a school in Uganda, The Dalitso Trust, a development project in Malawi; two Vineyard South East Asia church plants which we have visited; the work of 'FRONTIERS' in the Middle East, Sam's House, a nursery/therapy centre in Lebanon for children fleeing the Syria Conflict. |
