One of the things we love most about Jesus is his compassion for those in need and the marginalised. This is why we are passionate about helping people in need in the city of Derby and overseas.
We have good links with Milestone House, a homeless hostel in Derby City Centre and have been in several times with tea and cakes for the residents, just to hang out and build relationships with them. Right from the beginning of the church we’ve collected toiletries and towels for the new residents coming into Milestone house, but just recently we’ve begun making ‘welcome bags’ with all the items people coming in off the streets need such as toiletries, cups, plates, socks and so on. Many of our friends from outside the church have been involved with this too.
We’ve also in the past enjoyed going out to feed rough sleepers in the City and organising live music events to raise awareness of people trafficking and money for other charities that work to free people trapped in slavery.
We also support several projects both here and across the world. These include:
The Dalitso Trust, a development project in Malawi.
Two Vineyard South East Asia Church Plants which we have visited.
Our people in the Middle East, (as we like to call them!) A family who work to bring Good News to the Middle East.
